DIY ANY-HOLIDAY ADVENT CALENDAR

IMG_2290_edited_edited.JPG

The end of November is here, but don't fret because coming up is the most wonderful time of the year! The month of December brings with it the excitement of the up-coming holidays and joyful gift-giving. Here at Les Petites Chéries we decided to start a new tradition. We have both always wanted an advent calendar, but they are usually seen as a "Christmas tradition." Since neither of us celebrate Christmas we thought "Hey why not just make an advent calendar for the holidays we and others celebrate?" And that is the lovely little story of how the wonderful Any-Holiday Advent Calendar was born. :)

All you need is:

A variety of washi tapes

Little paper bags (can be found at craft stores most likely near the gift wrap)

Mini clothespins

A pen

Scissors

Baker's Twine (or any thin string)

Candy or little gifts (not pictured; candy is the more traditional approach but you can put anything in these)

Take your bags and write whatever amount of numbers you need to suit your holiday. We chose 8 for the symbolic 8 days of Hannukah, but you can also do the amount of days leading up to the holiday of your choice. It is easiest to draw them using analog-clock-type numbers since they don't have curves.

Apply the washi tape following the numbers you drew out. Use the scissors to cut the tape straight and precisely.

Stuff your numbered packages with candies or other goodies for a special little treat when you open them up during the holiday time!

And that's all! This advent calendar gives you a nice way to treat your whole family (or just yourself) to a small treat each day during the holidays. This time of year does bring its burden of stressful shopping so when you get home grab a mug of hot chocolate and an advent package and treat yourself, you deserve it! :)

xoxo,

Emma and Hannah
