DIY B&W SUCCULENT POTS

Okay we've got to put it out there right now.....THESE POTS ARE SO CUTE WE CAN'T HANDLE THEM! Now that that's out of the way, let's talk for real. Succulents by themselves are adorable, but once you pair them with minimal black and white painted pots, it's a match made in botanical heaven. What's even better is that we painted these babies in no time. Tell us that doesn't suc(culent)! Sorry but we just couldn't write this post without using at least one succulent pun ;). Anyways, we decided to go for a more minimal look for these pots because let's face it, less is more. Now it's time to get creative, are you ready? Let's go!

All you need is:

Black and white acrylic paint

Chalkboard tape

A variety of paint brushes

Chalk (or you can instead use a chalk pen if you've got one handy)

Black Sharpie (not pictured)

Mini terra cotta pots

Baby succulents

First, fit a piece of chalkboard tape around one of your pots.

Measure by eye (or a ruler if you want to be super precise) the width of the rim of the pot. Then cut a piece that size and a little bit longer than the pot.

Now that you've got the chalkboard band measured and cut, leave that to the side and paint the pot black.

Once the black pot dries, peel off the back of the chalkboard tape and stick it around the rim of the pot. Cut the excess tape once it fits.

Then take your chalk/chalk pen and carefully draw whatever word(s) or phrase you want around the rim. We decided that cursive looked the nicest for the word we chose, but you can do whatever you would like. After that you're officially done with your first pot!

Moving on to the other pots, paint both of them completely white. You can choose if you would like to do more than one coat, but we just patched up a little wherever the terra cotta came through to give it a more homemade look.

When the white pots dry, take one and draw little Xs and Os around the rim in black Sharpie.

For the last pot, we went for a marlbed look. Take some black paint and coat your paintbrush. Then on top of that paint, dip your brush on one side in white paint. Lightly paint the pot with large strokes from this multi-colored brush. Eventually it will give off a marbled look. We discovered this unique painting technique on accident, but it ended up making the pot look so cool! Once all your pots are dry, place your mini succulents inside to finish them off!

Okay, okay we love all of the pots so much, but if we seriously had to pick a favorite, it would have to be this little guy. The delicate look of the white cursive lettering over the black looks fantastic. Same goes for the other pots too! The XO pot turned out similarly elegant and the marbled pot has a sort of chic-minimal thing going on. Just reminding you we're talking about pots here. ;) We hope you enjoy this super simple DIY that makes great for a quick room spruce-up or as a gift for a special someone. Happy official summer everyone!
