THE FANCIEST MINI PUMPKINS WITH GOLD SPLATTERED LEAVES YOU'LL EVER SEE
Halloween decor not your thing? No problem! These classy little guys will dress up your home with a more chic October vibe sans witches, ghosts, monsters, blood, etc. We get it those types of things aren't everyone's cup of tea, us included, but you still want your home to be super festive for the fall season. These mini pumpkins will do just the trick, plus they take no time to make!
All you need is:
Mod Podge
Gold acrylic paint
Preserved leaves (we got ours at the market! who knew??)
A variety of mini pumpkins
One large paintbrush
One smaller fanned brush
Hot glue gun (not pictured)
The three things to look for when picking out the perfect mini/regular pumpkins are color, shape, and stem length. We tend to pick out the most uniquely shaped stems like the upper right pumpkin, but we also love the classic short stem. And of course look out for bruises or scratches!
Now here comes the hardest part of the whole project, don't worry its not as bad as it sounds. We first painted the pumpkins with Mod Podge to give them some shine. We then attempted to Mod Podge the leaves to the pumpkins but they just would not stick! So, we roughly stuck them to the pumpkins with the Mod Podge. Then when those dried we went back with a glue gun and glued all of the leaf ends down. Then as a final touch you can paint a coat of Mod Podge on top of the leaves, but we decided against it since we're using gold paint for some sparkle anyways.
The next part is a bit messy so we recommend wearing an old t-shirt or something to cover your clothes. Squeeze out a bit of gold paint and have a cup of water nearby. Coat your fanned brush in the paint and then swish it a little bit in the water. Then take your finger and flick the brush (best description) towards the pumpkin. You can also dab a bit of paint directly on the leaves to add some bigger splotches.
Yeah, you'll look something like this. :) All Emma could keep singing was "Gold Finger" from the James Bond movie.
Alright so despite the mess you made on your hands, these pumpkins look so fancy and almost like modern art! That pop of gold really does it, doesn't it? Mm hm, that's what we thought. ;) Now show off those babies on your mantel, coffee table, or even as gorgeous table centerpieces. Get creative, and stay golden. ;)
